Flight out was uneventful. Wasn’t able to upgrade, but we had two seats by ourselves, which made the flight better. Neither Katie nor I felt like we slept much, but the flight also passed much quicker than both of us expected. Once we landed at De Gaul, we got a bite to eat and a drink and killed a few hours. Out connection was uneventful, and we were in our hotel room before 11. We ordered dinner and a bottle of cava from room service, and then went to sleep.
We woke up a bit late and got out of the room by one. We got coffee at ARVO Coffee & Plants, and then wandered around Old Town. We got another coffee at Beetle Bar, then watched kids done with school for the week play soccer in the middle of the new square over snacks from Gure Toki. We went back to the hotel, got a drink at the bar, then a remarkably good dinner as Islares.
Jet lag hit hard, and we didn’t end up getting out of the room until after 3. We got food at Copper Deli, and then spent a few hours at the Guggenheim. I discovered Pablo Palazuelo, and found his Signo I to be pretty cool! After we got out fill, Katie went back to the room, I took a short walk, then we had a nice quiet evening.

Walked around San Sebastián. Walked up to La Castillo de la Mota and reread our vows to each other.
Saw some great views of the city, then on the way back down came across a random sign that read “Bar”. So, we stopped and sat looking out over the city. I had a Zumo, which was definitely the best beer of the trip. Katie had another glass of Txakoli.
For dinner we went to Kokotxa. They initially lost our reservation and service was a little shakey to start, but once the meal really started, it evened out. The food was great!
We rejiggered our plans! We’re heading to Biarritz a day early, shortening our stay in San Sebastián slightly, then leaving Biarritz a day early to meet up with Melissa and Guillaume in Bordeaux for a night, then continuing on to Paris for two!
Went to ARENALES for dinner which was INCREDIBLE. Roasted beets with almonds, roasted carrots with yogurt and mint, and bavette with chimichurri.
2023-05-25 Woke up and got coffee from Syra Coffee, which turned out to be the same brand that we got coffee from in Barcelona. Walked around, saw a cool bridge, got snacks from Cortazar next to the hotel. Then car to Biarritz.
We woke up and ordered coffee and croissants to the room. Then, we got massages. We showered off, got drinks overlooking the lake, then spent some time in the hot tubs!
For dinner, we took a cab into town (after failing to call an Uber) for Chez Scott, followed by drinks on the dock.
Rented bikes, rode into town and got coffee at Lobita at the food hall. Went to the point, walked around. Got lunch at El Tacos Del Diablo, part of the Palmito food hall. Got tacos, beers, salads, chips and guacamole. Then after lunch, we rode up to the lighthouse, then up to the Tower of Love.
We then rode back to the hotel and had a low key evening, with dinner on the terrace.
Woke up a bit earlier than we had, got breakfast at the hotel. Went back to the room before renting bikes again. Got a snack at Shelter, then walked around downtown. Stopped at a cool art show, where Katie found a piece she really liked called Les maisons sont pluerent
Dinner at Les Rosiers was disappointing. Three courses, beginning with the best octopus I’ve had, with chorizo, a carmelized red onion, and With young pigeon for a main, and then a choice of chocolate or fruit for dessert. The chocolate was served with a green olive sorbet, but was otherwise unremarkable

Walked around Paris, checked out le Musée d’Orangerie, got crepes at le creperie d’ile Saint Louis, then dinner at Frenchie.
1 June 2023 Woke up early, got breakfast at the hotel, then a taxi to the airport. Flew home.
